Toyota Premio expert review

Overview

Toyota Premio is one of the most requested sedan imports at Galle Enterprises. With an estimated landed price of LKR 17.05 Mn, it balances purchase cost, running cost and resale value better than most rivals in the Sri Lankan market.

Exterior

The Premio carries a clean, contemporary sedan design that ages well. Panel gaps, paint quality and lighting hardware on Japanese auction-grade units are typically excellent, which keeps refurbishment cost after clearing very low.

Interior & quality

Cabin materials are hard-wearing and easy to maintain in humid coastal conditions. Seating for 5 seater with a practical boot makes the Premio a genuine family vehicle rather than just a city runabout.

Performance & economy

The 1.5L / 1.8L VVT-i powertrain paired with a automatic (cvt) gearbox returns around 14 - 16 km/l, which is a decisive advantage under current fuel prices. Duty banding for this petrol configuration is also favourable.

Verdict

If you want a petrol sedan imported from Japan with predictable duty, easy parts availability and strong resale, the Toyota Premio remains a safe, well-priced choice at LKR 18.5 - 22.0 Mn.

Things to consider

  • Landed price moves with live exchange rates and Sri Lanka Customs tariff revisions.

Excellent import value for the Premio

The landed cost estimate Galle Enterprises gave for my Toyota Premio was within a few thousand rupees of the final clearing bill. Documentation support made the whole process painless.

DDilani S. On May 28, 20264

Comfortable and economical

Day to day running cost of the Toyota Premio is very low for Sri Lankan conditions and spare parts are easy to find. Ride quality on rough roads could be slightly better.

AAshan F. On Apr 30, 20264.5

Great resale value

Imported through the portal and the duty breakdown was fully transparent. The Premio holds resale value strongly in the local market.
